Privacy policy

Arc ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Arc mobile app and website at arc.app. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over it.

1. What we collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address via Clerk, our authentication provider.

Arc content. The goal prompts you enter to generate arcs, the steps you create or edit, step status (complete / skipped), and deals you save.

Location (optional). If you grant permission, we use your device location to surface deals from nearby providers. We do not store precise location persistently — it is used only to filter results at request time.

Calendar (optional). If you grant permission, we write plan steps to your device calendar. We do not read your existing calendar events.

Usage analytics. We log feature usage, screen views, and in-app events via PostHog to understand how the app is used and where to improve it.

Crash and error reports. We use Sentry to capture unhandled errors and app crashes to fix stability issues.

Billing. If you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment. We store only your Stripe customer ID and subscription status — we never see or store full card details.

2. How we use it

  • To create, store, and display your arcs and steps.
  • To match relevant local deals to the active step in your arc.
  • To send product and account notifications (you can opt out in settings).
  • To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • To process payments and manage your subscription.
  • To diagnose and fix bugs and crashes.

We do not use your arc prompts or step content to train AI models, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

3. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate Arc:

  • Clerk — authentication and user accounts.
  • Anthropic / Google — AI plan generation. Your goal prompt is sent to the model to generate your arc steps. These providers have their own data usage policies.
  • Stripe — payment processing. PCI-DSS compliant.
  • PostHog — product analytics. Data is retained in accordance with PostHog's data processing agreement.
  • Sentry — error monitoring.
  • Cloudflare — image storage and CDN for deal photos uploaded by business partners.
  • Neon / Fly.io — database and server hosting.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Arc, our users, or others.

4. Data retention

We retain your account and arc data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we begin removing your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate billing dispute resolution (typically up to 7 years for financial records per IRS requirements).

5. Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

  • Access your data — request an export at any time.
  • Delete your account and associated data — available in Settings → Privacy, or by emailing us.
  • Opt out of analytics — contact us and we will suppress PostHog tracking for your account.
  • Correct inaccurate data — update your profile in settings or contact us.

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA: the right to know, right to delete, right to opt out of sale (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise any right, email privacy@arc.app.

6. Children

Arc is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (TLS), JWT-based authentication via Clerk, and access controls on all data stores. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes we will notify you via email or an in-app notice before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.

9. Contact

For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@arc.app. For general inquiries, email hello@arc.app.
